Alighiero Boetti

"Alighiero Boetti (1940 - 1994) approached art as a self-taught artist, with an early interest in the research of Gaston Bachelard. His initial works were three-dimensional pieces derived from common everyday objects, which positioned him as a key figure in the Arte Povera movement (1967). He delved into the concept of identity (1968) and the biology of the human body in "two-handed writing" performances (1970-75) and sculpture. Intrigued by postal methods and arithmetic, he conceived works based on the segmentation of time and the laws of mathematical permutation. In 1971, he discovered the ancient traditions of Afghanistan and, involving embroiderers in the creation of his works, he initiated a process based on the temporal gap between conception and execution."

Paolo Mussat Sartor

Paolo Mussat Sartor was born in Turin in 1947, where he currently lives and works. A self-taught photographer, he began his photographic journey in 1966. In 1968, he started collaborating with Gian Enzo Sperone and had the opportunity to photograph Italian and foreign artists who were exhibiting their works in Sperone's gallery during those years. Mussat Sartor exhibited and published portraits of artists, and documents artworks in art catalogs and specialized magazines worldwide. He also contributed to art and architecture magazines such as Domus, Abitare, Vogue, Casa Vogue, and Ottagono. In 1979, the publishing house Stampatori released his book 'Paolo Mussat Sartor Fotografo 1968/1978. Arte e Artisti in Italia,' which documents ten years of collaboration with several contemporary Italian artists. Simultaneously, starting from 1970, he focuses on his own artistic research, which evolved through the language of photography. Since 1985, he has been experimenting with photo-printing techniques, using colored pigments and mixed techniques to create unique pieces.

LU.PA

Through the relationship with the "other," intrinsic to the nature of the duo, LU.PA explores dynamics, languages, and tools of the contemporary world in order to analyze the systems that regulate current relationships. This is why LU.PA's projects originate from performative actions, rituals, during which the audience becomes an integral part of the process of constructing a work of art. Their union was officially announced in 2018, marking the birth of LU.PA through a visual manifesto, a 24-hour performance called OLO, during which the two artists engaged in a dance of drawing. For this purpose, a white structure was built, overlooking the street at Spazio Y in Rome. In July 2018, LU.PA was invited to Spoleto, Italy, to participate in ASTRA VOL.I, as part of the Festival dei due Mondi, where they created Luco, which is a multimedia installation, and a performance called Parla.
